It's really been a while since I wrote anything...!

I certainly hope everyone is doing well. I realised today that it's been over a year since I first arrived at this house; it's a very strange feeling. A lot has happened, and yet it somehow doesn't feel like it's been nearly that long...

I suppose there's no harm now in telling that I actually lost all of my powers for a few months. At the time, I was afraid to tell anybody because I didn't want to make anyone worry... Of course, it occurs to me now that most of you are probably surprised to hear that I had powers in the first place. At any rate, I'm happy to say that they've come back on their own! ^^ For those who don't know, I have healing powers, as well as the ability to sense spirit energy and things like that. ... I actually can theoretically do a few more things, like perform soul burial and exorcise a Hollow, but I wound up here without my zanpakutou, so... ... I can't do those. :D() ... Anyway, of course you're all welcome to come to me for healing any time at all.

I feel a bit bad that there are still people here I've never gotten to know, or with whom I may have gotten off on the wrong foot. But I really hope eventually we'll all be able to get along, so... to everyone I might have offended, I'm very sorry! And to everyone I haven't really met yet, I hope that we can become friends soon. ^^

Morning came, as it tended to; the clear light that streamed in through the window illuminated Hanatarou, partially tangled up in the blankets and draped rather demurely over the demi fiend's shoulder. Directly underneath him-- issuing from his mouth and glistening in the sunlight-- was a medium-sized puddle of drool.

Now that his body was once again fully human, certain physical necessities that had long ago ceased to exist for the demi-fiend were back with a vengeance. (Well, Hanatarou wasn't sure how extreme or vengeful it was, really, but just saying they were back wasn't very interesting.) In particular, the need to consume and digest food to gain nourishment and sustenance was back. To that end, Hanatarou had offered to make him something. All very sound in theory.

In execution, however, there were some problems. His first instinct had been just to microwave something, but that didn't seem right for someone's first real meal after such a long time. Instead, he was making fried rice-- or doing his best, at least. He'd never done much cooking, and it was only his second time attempting the dish... Moreover, it occurred to him (now that it was too late) that even though the demi-fiend hadn't been using that knowledge for ages, he had the benefit of a normal living human earth life in his past. Therefore, he probably knew more about cooking than Hanatarou did. And if that (along with his doubts about whether what he cooked would be edible) hadn't already been enough to make him feel ridiculous... given his tendency to drop, trip over, and spill things, he had also taken the eminently reasonable measure of putting on an apron. So he was basically 0 for 3, but... it couldn't be helped. Sigh.

It's a new year, and I'd like to wish everyone a very happy one. I'd never really heard of the 'Yule' holiday before that, but I'm sorry I wasn't able to get anyone presents, and I hope everyone had a nice time anyway. I'm very grateful for the new friends I've made recently, and all of you really do mean a lot to me.

It seems I've been a bit of a recluse lately, and I really hope I haven't made anyone feel unwelcome. Actually, I'm always available if anybody needs anything-- either in the clinic, or my room, or... well, if you can't find me, you can probably just shout for me or something... ^^() I don't just mean if you have some kind of injury; I'm willing to help with anything at all, if I can.

Oh, and Zexion, I hope you won't forget to tell me when you want to do housework. ^^

... Anyway, I know that some of the residents here have had issues with their powers and abilities not working the same way they previously had, or at all. Does anyone know anything about that?

Have you gotten any new winter clothes yet, Link-san?

Yuri's shirt (he still thought of it as Yuri's shirt, even though he'd already been its sole owner for a longer period of time than he had even known Yuri) had seen better days. Nearly all the stains had washed out completely with a little persuasion, but the fabric was noticeably faded in a few areas as a result, and overall the garment had progressed much further along the road toward 'threadbared' than its amount of usage warranted. Not to mention the smallish, ragged tear that looked rather too obviously like a bite...
Still, it was clean and wearable. But it was the middle of the day, so he wasn't wearing it. Actually, he'd just finished getting it back into the state of 'clean and wearable' after a morning's worth of serious laundering, and had finally hung it to dry and then treated himself to a congratulatory cup of instant noodles.

With laundry finished and lunch eaten, he supposed there were no other pressing obligations for the moment; he considered changing into a fresh outfit that might smell less of detergent and sweat, but decided against it since he barely noticed the scent even when he paid special attention. He washed his hands, washed his face, and went down to the basement. Nobody was there, so he sat against the wall and waited. (He sat on the blanket since the floor was hard and cold, and folded it over his lap since he felt like it.)

Hanatarou stifled a yawn as he padded down the stairs toward the kitchen. The display on the clock had read 4-something when he woke up; he didn't feel horribly restless, but he hadn't been able to get back to sleep after turning over a couple times, so he'd figured a glass of water wouldn't hurt anything.

He left the kitchen light off since he didn't need it to find a glass in the cabinet. Tap water didn't sound all that appetising anymore, so he opened the refrigerator and looked at its contents for a moment; then he poured himself a glass of milk. (Would he have to brush his teeth again? ... Well, he'd see how he felt afterward.)

... I don't really know about the holiday that's meant to be coming up, but it seems we all need to be in costume...?

The Head of House said one will be provided for us if we can't come up with one, but... knowing the way things can sometimes be around here, I think I'd like to avoid that if it's possible. :D()() So... um. I don't suppose anyone would be willing to help me come up with something? ^^()()()()

Uuurrrghgh. Being sick was horrible. Chills, nausea, that all-over ache... well, at least it all sort of came in bouts. And right now he felt... mostly all right. Aside from the sluggish ire and disgust with the world in general, of course. Everything on TV sucked, he was still throwing up everything except orange juice, and... everything on TV sucked!

He'd been dozing intermittently all day, or he would have just said 'fuck it' and gone to sleep. As it was, he felt restless. =_= ... But eeehn. It wasn't worth actually leaving the clinic. He might run into someone interesting, but it was more likely he'd run into someone retarded. Besides, he didn't feel like taking any crap from anyone about his current fashion choices (he'd suddenly started feeling hot during one of his earlier temperature swings and, still lacking in wardrobe variety, had changed into the short dress Hokuto had made him during the whole animal thing-- leaving off the apron and petticoat, of course, since the point was breathability), and fucked if he was going to change back into his shihakushou! Exhaling in frustration, he lounged back on the cot (now equipped with piles and piles of comforters) with his legs stretched out in front of him, stared at the ceiling, and wondered how long it took to die of boredom.

Specifically, this is the "Remix desu" version, since I like it better (the instrumentation on the original doesn't do it for me). Performed, of course, by Miyata Kouki, his seiyuu in the Bleach anime. yaaaay.

Being freshly bathed (really bathed, not poolside-showered) after days spent outdoors, as it turned out, felt absolutely wonderful. And suddenly transforming into a woman didn't diminish the effect at all (although it was a bit disconcerting).

He'd (she'd) made an effort to keep his shihakushou clean while out of doors, but he definitely wanted to launder it properly before wearing it any more; that, however, could wait until the next day, since he (she) was far more interested at the moment in rediscovering the experience of being in an actual bed. Luckily, all the bedding seemed to have been washed with the rest of the house, so he (she) turned the covers down and flopped down onto the soft mattress without hesitation.

Found all these on Wasabi Mayonnaise, website of the delightful Miki, who just might be m-m-my soul mate??? I've been showing these to anybody who will direct connect with me, and when it got to the point where I was about to attach them all to an e-mail to ~~inflict on~~ share with yet more hapless friends, I thought, 'maybe I should just post them somewhere.' ... which, you know, theoretically I could just link everyone to the site, but I have no way of verifying that they'll actually click through all the galleries! And this way I get to share my commentary as well <3 ...and also mention/translate Miki's own commentary and text on the pictures and crap.
And also make you endure my summings-up of canon context so that those of you who are unfamiliar with Bleach will have some idea of what's meant to be going on D:< !!
Some of the descriptionse contain spoilers for the ending of the Soul Society arc. I've helpfully labelled them by typing 'SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER' in cheerful capital letters! ;D

this is a recreation of a panel from the manga in which Hanatarou (who had been passed out) freaks out upon being told that Ichigo (our hero lolz) is off fighting Kenpachi (crazy guy) by himself and tries to run to help him (the line here is "blah blah if we don't help him, Ichigo-san will die--!"), but Ganju (guest party member #2) stops him (with groping) and is like "blah blah we'd just get in his way blah we have to go save Rukia [cf: Princess Peach?] blah *grope*"
I include it because I once tried to find a screen shot of this moment in the anime so I could make my 'Bad Touch!' icon, but noticed 'wwwhhhhat that shot was cut out of the anime!!!' (ended up just colouring the actual panel).
And this is significant because it was exactly at the moment when I saw that Miki's commentary for this picture was "They cut this scene out of the anime..." that I realised my true feelings for her. :D

Miki sez: in the anime, the long gloves are too shiny and not cute. Are they rubber??

Hana sez: "Please stop!! Even if you push [me] like that, I'll--!!"

this occurs when SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Ganju and Hana have managed to get to Rukia, but Ganju realises (upon seeing her) that she's the one who killed his older brother fifty years ago or something (long story, guy was possessed at the time) and is like "screw this bitch" and Hana is like "noooo~" and then they realise Byakuya (scary strong-ass guy) is on his way to, you know, stop them rescuing her, and Ganju is like "psh, forget it, let's just beg him to spare us" and Hana's all like "I think I understand how you feel so I won't ask you to risk your life to save someone you hate, but please at least take her with you when you flee; I'll stay" AND IT'S LIKE TOTALLY HIS BIG MOMENT and he has LOL NO CHANCE OF WINNING but omg sooooo sweet <3 <3 <3
Miki: I love this scene! Hana-chan is a real man.

it's two other guys from Hanatarou's division, Ogidou (8th seat officer) and Barrette Guy (?). Although Barrette Guy is unnamed and has one line (none in the anime), I dig him. Ogidou's great too because while he is completely absent from the anime (except in a group shot) and does nothing in the manga other than insult/give a hard time to the 3rd seat officer, his character has been expanded/modified by 4th division fandom so that he is now "the guy who stalks/molests Hanatarou." Both are drawn with light/unshaded hair in the manga, but when they were in the anime (in the 4th division-centric ending), Barrette Guy had dark brown hair and Ogidou's was black. XD()
Miki: These two were in the 4th division ending. B-black hair??

Okay, in Bleach, all shinigami have a sword called a 'zanpakutou' (soul cutter). Every zanpakutou has a name and can be powered-up / released with a 'shikai' (initial release) command that causes it to transform into some other form (such as a really big blade, or a triple blade, or a whip blade, or wtvr). The form of the release command is for the shinigami to yell: "[Command], [name of zanpakutou]!" (examples include: "Split, Tobiume!" "Howl, Zabimaru!" and "Scatter, Senbonzakura!")
Hanatarou has a zanpakutou, although he's never been seen using it in canon and actually didn't have it period (he'd misplaced it) for the entire duration of the chapters where he was a major character. XD() But a back-up feature in a later volume revealed its name, Hisagomaru ['hisago' meaning 'gourd,' and 'maru' being kind of a generic name ender], and its highly impractical ability of immediately absorbing and healing any damage it does. The release command is 'Fulfill!'
But in Japanese, tentoumushi, meaning ladybug, is literally written as 'gourd bug,' so it has the same character in it as 'hisagomaru.'
So yeah. The idea here is that it's a ladybug-themed zanpakutou. XD() With the release command "Kiss, Hisagomaru!"

Ichimaru Gin, captain of 3rd division, is also a character with whom Hanatarou has never, ever interacted in canon. |D()() Idzuru Kira is his vice captain. (Captain and vice captain are the 1st and 2nd seat officers of each division. Hanatarou is the 7th seat officer of 4th division. Bleach is a series with a disgustingly enormous cast, but it's worth noting that, for most of the 13 divisions, the captain and vice-captain are the only characters we meet.)
A-anyway apparently this was drawn as part of a project to draw oekaki illustrations for 87 different situations? :>() The situation depicted here is 'just a little bit more'

(awwww. it's probably more poetic-sounding in Japanese. The 'Hana' of 'Hanatarou' means flower; 'tarou' is a standard ending for boy's names, so 'Hanatarou' can be rendered as 'flower boy.' ^^)

It looks like most of us will be getting roommates soon! Eheh... I'm kind of looking forward to it, actually. I hope I get paired with somebody nice... ...and preferably a light sleeper, just in case of any more, uh, midnight visitations.

Hokuto-san, I'm sorry to bother you, but I may be needing some changes of clothes soon. ... I've been wearing the same thing since I got here (although I did manage to wash it, various pieces at a time ^^() ), and it's quite, er, inconvenient. :D() I don't know shoulder or inseam or that kind of thing, but I wear a size 'small' shihakushou... Oh! And some of the division house nurses were taking everyone's three sizes a while ago, and mine were 84-56-84. (I don't know it in inches, I'm afraid.)

... Actually, I never did find out why they were taking those. :x
